JEKYLL ISLAND, Ga. – The 19th-ranked Washington and Lee women's golf team shot its lowest round of the tournament on Sunday, finishing 12th out of 23 teams at the Jekyll Island Collegiate.
Seventh-ranked Sewanee finished as the team champion with a +38 score of 301-298-303—902 that was 12 strokes better than 22nd-ranked Whitman (299-311-304—914, +50). Emily Javadi of Sewanee was the individual medalist, completing the tournament one-under par with a 71-72-72—215.
Sophomore Liza Freed (Alexandria, Va. / St. Stephen's & St. Agnes) was the top General in the tournament, shooting 75-73-76—224 (+8) to place fifth out of 120 golfers.
Sophomore Mary-Frances Hall (State Road, N.C. / Elkin) tied for 38th overall with a 80-83-78—241 (+25) and classmate Caroline Holloway (Gainesville, Fla. / Oak Hall) tied for 58th with a 90-85-75—250 (+34).
The Generals return to action on April 3 when they host the Match Play Preview at the Wintergreen Resort.
