ASHLAND, Va. – The Washington and Lee women's golf team shot a 393 on Monday to finish fifth out of seven teams at the Randolph-Macon Invitational held at the Ashland Country Club.
Methodist took both the team and individual portions of the event after Tuesday's second round was cancelled due to the weather forecast. The Monarchs shot 320 as a team to finish 37 strokes ahead of Randolph-Macon, who finished second. Bridgewater was third with a 378.
MU's Kelsie Carralero was the individual medalist after shooting a +4 score of 76, finishing one stroke ahead of R-MC's Olivia Bowling.
Sophomore Rachael Wright (Roanoke, Va. / North Cross) was the top General, tying for 14th with a 90. Sophomore Sara Moir (Roanoke, Va. / Hidden Valley) finished tied for 24th with a 96, while first-year Katelyn Degnan (Saint Petersburg, Fla. / Canterbury School) carded a 103 to tie for 36th. Sophomores Nicole Kasica (Greensboro, N.C. / Northern Guilford) and Lydia Barit (Paget, Bermuda / Middlesex School) also participated for W&L. Kasica shot 104 to place 39th and Barit finished tied for 40th with a 105.
With the second round cancellation, the Generals will now return to action on Sunday when they play Hollins in a duel match at Ashley Plantation Country Club.
