DATAW ISLAND, S.C. – The Washington and Lee women's golf team opened its spring campaign at the Taylor Made/Adidas Intercollegiate hosted by Ohio Wesleyan at the Morgan River Course on Monday.
W&L carded an opening round score of 398 and ranks seventh out of the eight teams at the event. The University of Cumberlands leads the way with a 322, followed by Wittenberg (335) and Hardin-Simmons (344).
Individually, the Generals are led by sophomore Rachael Wright (Roanoke, Va. / North Cross), who is tied for 19th after posting a 91 in the first round. Dylan Dawson of Hardin-Simmons is the individual leader after recording a +5 score of 77.
Sophomores Nicole Kasica (Greensboro, N.C. / Northern Guilford) and Lydia Barit (Paget, Bermuda / Middlesex School) are both tied for 33rd after carding a 102 each, while sophomore Sara Moir (Roanoke, Va. / Hidden Valley) is tied for 35th with a 103. First-year Katelyn Degnan (Saint Petersburg, Fla. / Canterbury School) rounded out the W&L players in the field with a 108 that was tied for 38th.
Action continues on Tuesday with the second and final round from the Morgan River Course.
