SPRINGFIELD, Ohio – The Washington and Lee women's golf team shot an opening round 348 and is in 11th-place out of 15 teams after the first day of the Pat Clouse Invitational hosted by Wittenberg University at the Springfield Country Club on Saturday.
DePauw University leads the event after the first day, shooting a 311. Wittenberg carded 316 to rank second, while SUNY Cortland is third with a 320. Ithaca is in fourth (321), followed by Otterbein (331), Bellarmine (334), Denison (341), Hollins (344), the Generals (348), Mercyhurst (355), Urbana (359), Notre Dame of Ohio (360) and Washington & Jefferson (388).
DePauw's Kelsey Smith is the individual leader after shooting a +1 score of 73. Teammate Camila Romero is in second after carding a 75.
First-year Lydia Barit (Paget, Bermuda/Middlesex School) shot an 88 and is tied for 47th, while first-year Nicole Kasica (Greensboro, N.C./Northern Guilford) is in 79th-place after shooting 98. Sophomore Elise Petracca (Manhasset, N.Y./Loomis Chaffee) carded a 113 to round out the W&L competitors in the field.
