DALEVILLE, Va. – The Washington and Lee women's golf team shot a second round score of 359, an improvement of 13 strokes from the first day, as the Generals finished third overall (372-359—731) at the Hollins Invitational held at Ashley Plantation on Sunday.
Hollins finished first with a two-day score of 332-330—662, followed by Sewanee (345-345—690) and the Generals.
Individually, Sewanee's Emily Javadi was the medalist, finishing with a score of 77-76—153 (+9). W&L was paced by first-year Sara Moir (Roanoke, Va./Hidden Valley), who carded an 84-85—169 to finish seventh overall. Classmate Rachael Wright (Roanoke, Va./North Cross) finished eighth with an 89-85—174, while first-year Lydia Barit (Paget, Bermuda/Middlesex School) was 13th with a 102-89—191.
First-year Nicole Kasica (Greensboro, N.C./Northern Guilford) followed a 97 with an even 100 for a two-day score of 197 (T14th) and sophomore Elise Petracca (Manhasset, N.Y./Loomis Chaffee) finished 19th with a 114-116—230.
Washington and Lee returns to action on Sunday as it participates in the Radford Highlander Invitational held at the Draper Valley Golf Club.
