W&L's Katy Wilson Garners ODAC Accolades
FOREST, Va. – Washington and Lee senior forward Katy Wilson (Chattanooga, Tenn./Baylor) was named the 2013 Women's Basketball ODAC/Farm Bureau Insurance Scholar-Athlete of the Year and earned Second Team All-ODAC honors as announced by the league on Wednesday.
A chemical engineer major, Wilson is averaging a team-best 11.3 ppg, 8.0 rpg, 1.9 spg and 1.2 bpg in her 24 starts this season. She has scored double-digit points in 16 contests and also has registered five double-doubles. Wilson currently ranks fourth in the ODAC in offensive rebounds (3.0 rpg) and blocks (1.3 bpg), and sits sixth in total rebounds (8.0 rpg) and defensive rebounds (5.0 rpg).
In her career, Wilson has tallied 991 points, 803 rebounds, 207 assists, 144 steals and 77 blocks. Her point, rebound and block totals are all present on W&L's all-time lists and she is on her to way to be just the tenth athlete in program history to reach 1,000 points.
Bridgewater's senior guard Jessica Mullen was named Player of the Year, while Kevin Griffin from Eastern Mennonite was tabbed as Coach of the Year and Randolph-Macon first-year forward Katie Anderson garnered Rookie of the Year accolades.
The eighth-seeded Generals are set to face top-seeded Eastern Mennonite on Thursday at 1:00 pm in the ODAC Tournament quarterfinal round.
