LEXINGTON, Va. – After trailing in the first half, 22-21, Lynchburg pulled ahead by as many as 11 points in the second, and finished with a 60-50 win over the Washington and Lee women's basketball team on Saturday afternoon at the Warner Center.

The Hornets scored the first six points after intermission to take a 27-22 lead just 2:44 into the second half. Sophomore center Lauren Penley (Pfafftowon, N.C./Mount Tabor) paced the run after sandwiching two baskets around a jumper by sophomore guard Katie Reeves (Bealeton, Va./Liberty). The Generals then pulled to within two (32-30) as first-year forward Shelbi Hendricks (Louisville, Ky./Kentucky Country Day) capped an 8-5 run with a jumper at the 13:35 mark.

LC (8-4, 3-1) netted its next seven baskets, while W&L (5-5, 2-2) made just 2-of-13 attempts, to give the Hornets their largest lead of the contest (49-38) with 5:51 left in regulation. The Generals rattled off seven straight points to close within four points at the 4:12 mark, but they could not complete the comeback as LC walked away with the 60-50 victory.

Senior forward Katy Wilson (Chattanooga, Tenn./Baylor) opened the game's scoring with a layup at 19:48. The teams exchanged baskets throughout the half, which featured five ties but just two lead changes. The Hornets led by as many as five points, 15-10, with 9:36 left in the half, but the Generals tied up the contest by the 7:29 mark (15-15) and closed out the remaining 6:50 on a 7-4 run to claim a 22-21 advantage at the break.

Lynchburg shot 46.8 percent (22-47) from the floor, but limited W&L to just 28.1 percent (16-57) from the field.

Senior guard Megan Marks (Oxford, Ohio/Talawanda) notched nine points, seven boards and three assists, and first-year guard Paige Corvino (Clarendon Hills, Ill./Fenwick) registered nine points and four rebounds.

For the Hornets, three players scored in double-digits, including a game-high 16 points from first-year forward Chaney Forbush (Clifton, Va./Centreville).
