W&L Equestrian Competes at Collegiate Cup

LEXINGTON, Va. – The Washington and Lee equestrian team competed at the Virginia Intermont Classic/Collegiate Cup on Saturday, hosted by the Virginia Horse Center. 

The W&L "White" team placed fourth overall, with only the top eight teams earning placing recognition. Virginia Intermont won the team title with 473 points, while Virginia's "Cavalier" team was second with 467 points and Virginia's "Wahoo" team recorded 41 points for third. W&L "White" (456), Goucher "Blue" (455), Stonebridge IEA (441), Madeira School (437) and Goucher "Gold" (413) wrapped up the top eight.

The Generals' "White" team featured senior Molly Rountree (Andover, Mass./Phillips Academy), junior Claire Stevenson (Southampton, N.Y./St. Paul's School) and first-year Laura Lemon (Roanoke, Va./North Cross).  Lemon highlighted W&L's performances by receiving top honors in the novice flat.

W&L returns to action on Friday, April 5, when it competes at the ODAC Championships, hosted by Sweet Briar.
