
RALEIGH, N.C. – Senior Tamara Morse (Bristow,
Va./Brentsville) wrapped up the Washington and Lee riding team's
season with individual finishes in the USEF/Cacchione Cup and the
open flat at the 2012 Intercollegiate Horse Show Association
National Championships, held on Thursday and Friday at the Hunt
Horse Complex.
On Thursday, Morse competed in the open equitation on the flat,
finishing in second place and earning the title of Reserve National
Champion. She beat out eight others in the event, while Tara
Donohue from Stony Brook claimed the National Championship.
Friday brought more competition, as Morse battled for the
USEF/Cacchione Cup title. After competing over fences for Phase I,
Morse sat in 13th place out of a field of 36 with 77.00 points,
allowing her to advance to Phase II of the two-phase event. Morse
then recorded 84.5 points in the flat phase to place fourth overall
in the Cacchione Cup with a total of 151.5 points.
With the conclusion of the IHSA Nationals, the riding team has completed its season.
