W&L Riding Opens Season at Hollins Invitational
HOLLINS, Va. – The Washington and Lee riding team opened its fall season with a sixth-place finish at the Hollins University Invitational on Saturday.
Bridgewater finished tops in the team results, collecting 34 points. BC was followed by Sweet Briar (29), Lynchburg (26), Hollins (25), Randolph (18) and Washington and Lee (13) and University of Virginia (13) in the top six.
Individually, senior Tamara Morse (Bristow, Va./Brentsville) and first-year Sarah Ward (Dayton, Va./Turner Ashby) led the Generals with second-place finishes in the open equitation on the flat and walk-trot-canter, respectively.
Also recording top six finishes for W&L was sophomore Maia Robbins (Seattle, Wash./Lakeside School) in the intermediate on the flat (fifth place) and senior Camille Cobb (Huntersville, N.C./Harding University) in the walk-trot (sixth place).
W&L returns to action on October 7 as it takes part in the Randolph Invitational.
