LEXINGTON, Ky. – Washington and Lee junior rider Tamara Morse (Bristow, Va./Brentsville) competed at the 2011 Intercollegiate Horse Show Association (IHSA) National Championships over the weekend, finishing fourth in the United States Equestrian Federation (USEF)/Cacchione Cup competition held at the Kentucky Horse Park in Lexington, Ky.
Morse scored a 76.00 in Phase I (over fences) to leave her in 12th place overall. Her score advanced her to Phase II (on the flat), where she scored an 85.00, the third-best score in the event. Morse finished with a total score of 161.00 to take fourth overall among 36 competitors from across the country.
Morse earned her trip to the national competition after winning the regional Cacchione Cup competition this spring. She also received First Team All-ODAC honors and was selected as the ODAC Scholar-Athlete of the Year for the second-consecutive season.
