OBERLIN, Ohio – Senior Levi Warring (Williamsburg, Va./Lafayette) finished 25th out of 274 runners to lead the Washington and Lee men's cross country team to a 12th-place finish out of 32 teams at the Inter-Regional Rumble hosted by Oberlin on Saturday, which featured multiple ranked teams.
Seventeenth-ranked Allegheny took home the team title with 88 points, NYU finished second (103 points) and 15th-ranked Carnegie Mellon took third (117 points). The Generals totaled 339 points.
Warring finished 25th in the 8k race with a time of 24:54.40. Senior Geno Arthur of Oberlin took the individual title in 24:04.00. Junior Ian McDonald (Richmond, Va./Douglas S. Freeman) crossed the finish line 38th (25:07.40) and junior Mac Strehler (Moseley, Va./Trinity Episcopal School) claimed 74th with a time of 25:30.60.
First-year Cooper Baird (Fort Worth, Texas/Fort Worth Country Day) placed 108th in 25:55.40 and first-year Alex Dolwick (Apex, N.C./GRACE Christian School) rounded out the scoring in 110th (25:56.70).
The Generals also had a group of competitors in the 8k open race. Junior Phillip Harmon (Roanoke, Va./Patrick Henry) and senior Jacob Strauss (Great Falls, Mont./Great Falls) were the highlights for the Blue and White. Harmon took 34th out of 185 in 26:28.30, and Strauss was 41st (26:38.80).
W&L returns to action on October 31 at the ODAC Championship hosted by Bridgewater.
