SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. — Led by junior Mac Strehler (Moseley, Va./Trinity Episcopal School), the Washington and Lee men's cross country team finished fourth out of eight teams at the Galen Piper Invitational hosted by Shippensburg on Friday. The Generals were the third-best college team.
The Shippensburg alumni team won the race with 27 points, Shippensburg (35 points) claimed second, Dickinson (80) was third and the Blue and White totaled 113 points.
Strehler finished eighth overall out of 121 competitors with a time of 19:41 on the 6K course. Sean Stetler of the Shippensburg Alumni team was the top individual in 19:14.
Junior Ian McDonald (Richmond, Va./Douglas S. Freeman) crossed the finish line 23rd in 20:16, and sophomore MacKenzye Leroy (Port Jervis, N.Y./Port Jervis) took 26th (20:28). In fourth for W&L and 29th overall was first-year Patrick Hunter (Harrisburg, N.C./Cannon School) with a time of 20:34. Senior Levi Warring (Williamsburg, Va./Lafayette) rounded out the scoring for the Blue and White in 32nd (20:39).
The Generals next compete at the ODAC Preview hosted by Bridgewater on Friday, September 11, at 6:30 pm.
