Numerous W&L Students Earn Winter Scholar-Athlete Awards
Washington and Lee Director of Athletics Jan Hathorn has announced that 216 students earned Scholar-Athlete awards during the recently completed winter term. The students are all members of W&L athletic teams and achieved a grade-point average (GPA) of at least 3.500.

The United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) announced its All-Academic Teams and individual All-Academic honorees on Wednesday and Washington and Lee was well represented.

Numerous W&L Students Earn Fall Scholar-Athlete Awards
Washington and Lee Director of Athletics Jan Hathorn has announced that a record 224 students earned Scholar-Athlete awards during the recently completed fall term. The students are all members of W&L athletic teams and achieved a grade-point average (GPA) of at least 3.50. The total contains 34 more athletes than any previous fall term and is 14 more than in any previous winter term.

Warring Paces W&L Men's XC to Seventh at NCAA Regional
Junior Levi Warring (Williamsburg, Va./Lafayette) finished seventh out of 201 runners at the NCAA South/Southeast Regional on Saturday at Berry College to lead the Washington and Lee men’s cross country team to seventh place out of 28 teams.

Generalssports.com Athlete of the Week Ian McDonald (11-4)
Sophomore men's cross country runner Ian McDonald claimed first overall at the ODAC Championship this Saturday to earn Generalssports.com Athlete of the Week honors. He is the first W&L runner to claim the title since 2005.

Sophomore Ian McDonald (Richmond, Va./Douglas S. Freeman) claimed the individual title at the men’s cross country ODAC Championship hosted by Guilford to lead Washington and Lee to a third-place team finish on Saturday.

The Old Dominion Athletic Conference released its Runners of the Week on Monday and sophomore Mac Strehler (Moseley, Va./Trinity Episcopal School) garnered the honor on the men’s side and sophomore Alana Babington (Mobile, Ala./St. Paul's Episcopal) earned the recognition on the women’s side for the week ending September 7.

The Old Dominion Athletic Conference released its 2014 men’s cross country preseason coaches’ poll on Thursday, and Washington and Lee received 87 points, including one first-place vote, to land second out of 11 schools.
