NEW ORLEANS — The United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) announced its All-Academic Teams and individual All-Academic honorees on Friday and the Washington and Lee men's cross country team received multiple recognitions.
The Generals, which finished third at the 2013 ODAC Championship, were one of 146 teams in Division III to be honored. W&L posted a cumulative team GPA of 3.34.
Along with the team honor, sophomore Levi Warring (Williamsburg, Va./Lafayette) and first-year Mac Strehler (Moseley, Va./Trinity Episcopal School) earned individual All-Academic status. A total of 228 athletes received the distinction. Honorees must have compiled a cumulative grade-point average of 3.30 or greater through the most-recent semester and placed in the top 25 percent of the competitors at the NCAA Regional Championship.
Strehler finished 18th at the NCAA South/Southeast Regional Championship, while Warring took 31st.
To qualify as a USTFCCCA All-Academic Cross Country Team, the squad must have had a cumulative team GPA of 3.10 or better.
