W&L Men's Cross Country Takes Fifth at ODAC Championship

HARRISONBURG, Va. — Led by junior Kane Thomas (Seattle, Wash./Shorewood) the Washington and Lee men's cross country team finished fifth of 11 teams at the ODAC Championships hosted by Eastern Mennonite on Saturday.

The Generals totaled 137 points with Lynchburg taking the top spot with 28. Bridgewater came in second with 57, and Roanoke took third (134).

Thomas finished 19th with a time of 28:09.64. Senior Tyler Gehrs (Alexandria, Va./St. Andrews) was the next W&L runner to cross the finish line in 27th at 28:52.86.

First-year Levi Warring (Williamsburg, Va./Lafayette) took 28th with a time of 28:54.25, sophomore Scott Sugden (Circle Pines, Minn.) finished 30th in 29:14.87 and first-year Blake Liebling (Ridgefield, Conn./Ridgefield) rounded out the scoring with a time of 29:41.54 in 33rd.

Junior Cody Stanton of Lynchburg was the overall champion, crossing the finish line in 26:16.11. Sophomore Luke Sohl of Bridgewater came in second with a time of 26:31.66.

The Generals next compete at the NCAA South/Southeast Regional at Emory on November 10.
