LYNCHBURG, Va. — Junior Drew Pranka (Princeton, Ill./Princeton) broke his own school record in the 400m hurdles on Wednesday, leading a select group of Washington and Lee men's track and field athletes at the Liberty Twilight Qualifier.
Highlights From the Meet
- Pranka finished second in the event behind Saj Alhaddad, a member of the Canadian Track & Field Club the Ottawa Lions. Pranka crossed the finish line in 53.55, breaking his previous school record of 54.07, which he set at the 2018 Outdoor ODAC Championship on April 21. Pranka's new time is the 12th-fastest in Division III this season.
- Senior Dash Dericks (Waveland, Ind./The American School in Switzerland) finished second in the discus with a throw of 43.71m (143'5.00"), and he took third in the javelin with a career-best toss of 57.01m (187'0.00").
- The 4x400m relay set a new season best in taking second in 3:17.20. The quartet consisted of first-year Alexander Caines (Hanover Park, Ill./Lake Park) and Micah Wilson (Lincoln, Neb./Lincoln East), junior Carter Huffman (Sophia, N.C./South Western Randolph) and sophomore Donovan Fiore (Gilbert, Ariz./Chandler Prep Academy).
- In the 1,500m, senior MacKenzye Leroy (Port Jervix, N.Y./Port Jervis) and junior Hank Patrick (Baton Rouge, La./University Laboratory School) each registered new personal bests. Leroy finished in 3:55.16 and Patrick crossed the line in 4:03.64.
