  • W&L 2018 Men's Outdoor Track & Field ODAC Championship Preview

    The Washington and Lee men's track and field team looks to defend its ODAC Outdoor Track and Field Championship this weekend at Bridgewater. Recently, head coach Brandon Uhl, along with junior Alex Dolwick and sophomores Jay Roberts and Shep Sims, previewed the upcoming meet.

    Sophomore Shep Sims (Charleston, W.Va./Woodberry Forest School) broke the outdoor school record in the pole vault to lead the Washington and Lee men’s track and field team on Saturday at the Phoenix Invitational hosted by Elon, and senior MacKenzye Leroy (Port Jervis, N.Y./Port Jervis ) set the outdoor school record in the 5,000m at the Bison Outdoor Classic hosted by Bucknell.

    Junior Drew Pranka (Princeton, Ill./Princeton) and sophomore Shep Sims (Charleston, W.Va./Woodberry Forest School) each claimed victories to lead the Washington and Lee men’s track and field team at the Blue & Silver Challenge hosted by Christopher Newport on Saturday.

    The Washington and Lee men’s track and field team totaled 33 points in the final two events to claim the Indoor ODAC Championship on Sunday at the Kerr-Creggar Field House. It marks the second straight indoor championship for the Generals.

  • Numerous W&L Students Earn Fall Term Scholar-Athlete Awards

    Washington and Lee Director of Athletics Jan Hathorn has announced that a record 253 students earned Scholar-Athlete awards during the recently completed fall term. The students are all members of W&L athletic teams and achieved a grade-point average (GPA) of at least 3.50. The prior record for scholar-athletes in the fall or winter term was 242 set last fall.
