LYNCHBURG, Va. — The Washington and Lee men's track and field team competed on day two of the Darius Dixon Memorial Invitational, featuring mostly Division I programs, on Saturday at Liberty.
First-year Jay Roberts (Whitwell, Tenn./McCallie) finished 11th overall and second in Division III in the weight throw with a toss of 11.82m (38'09.50"). He also finished 15th (first in D III) in the shot put at 13.31m (43'08.00").
In the triple jump, junior Andrew Kim (Blacksburg, Va./Blacksburg) placed 11th (third in D III) with a personal-best leap of 12.33m (40'05.50"). He finished 17th (second in D III) in the long jump at 6.12m (20'01.00"). Senior Davis Turner (East Point, Ga./The Howard School) was 20th (third in D III) in the event at 5.75m (18'10.50").
Senior Jake Roberts (Kansas City, Mo./The Barstow School) placed 13th (second in D III) in the 800m with a time of 2:00.75. First-year Jimmie Johnson (Hoover, Ala./Hoover) notched a collegiate-best time in the 60m (7.24), finishing 17th (first in D III). Sophomore Drew Pranka (Princeton, Ill./Princeton) claimed 20th (fourth in D III) in the 60m hurdles (8.76), and sophomore Albert Del Cristo (Clarksburg, N.J./Notre Dame) was 16th (first in D III) in the 500m (1:13.62).
The 4x400m relay took 16th (second in D III) with a time of 3:35.61. The quartet consisted of Pranka, Johnson, Jake Roberts and Del Cristo.
The Generals next compete at the JDL Camel City Invitational on Friday and Saturday.
