W&L Men's Track and Field Competes at Swarthmore Final Qualifier

SWARTHMORE, Pa. — The Washington and Lee men's track and field team had five athletes compete at the Swarthmore Final Qualifier on Monday.

First-year Drew Pranka (Princeton, Ill./Princeton) claimed eighth overall in the 400m hurdles in a personal-best time of 55.14. In the 400m, first-year Carter Huffman (Sophia, N.C./South Western Randolph) placed 10th in the 400m in 49.93, which marked his second-fastest time this year.

In the 1,500m, junior Ian McDonald (Richmond, Va./Douglas S. Freeman) crossed the finish line in 3:56.20. First-year Cooper Baird (Fort Worth, Texas/Fort Worth Country Day) recorded a new collegiate best with a time of 4:03.51 in the event.

Junior Mac Strehler (Moseley, Va./Trinity Episcopal School) competed in the 5,000m, which was the last race of the evening, and finished with a time of 15:03.96.

This meet concludes the 2016 outdoor track and field season for the Generals.
