NEWPORT NEWS, Va. — The Washington and Lee men's track and field team won three events at the Commonwealth Duals hosted by Christopher Newport on Saturday.
Junior Ian McDonald (Richmond, Va./Douglas S. Freeman) claimed the top spot in the 1,500m with a time of 3:59.31. Senior Levi Warring (Williamsburg, Va./Lafayette) was third in the event in 4:03.05. Junior Davis Turner (East Point, Ga./The Howard School) placed first in the high jump at 1.80m (5'10.75"), and junior Harrison DeKnight (Midland Park, N.J./Midland Park) was third at 1.75m (5'8.75").
Sophomore Dash Dericks (Spring, Texas/The American School in Switzerland) won the javelin with a toss of 46.05m (151'1.00"). Junior Patrick Robertson (Norfolk, Va./Norfolk Academy) took second in the shot put and the hammer throw. He registered a mark of 13.55m (44'5.50") in the shot and 45.85m (150'5.00") in the hammer.
In the 400m, junior Jack Jones (Lookout Mountain, Ga./McCallie School) finished second (50.47) and first-year Carter Huffman (Sophia, N.C./South Western Randolph) was third (51.84). First-year Calvin Riss (Longmont, Colo./Peak to Peak Charter School) claimed third in the 5,000m in 15:57.85.
The 4x400m relay took third with a time of 3:29.39. The quartet consisted of first-year Drew Pranka (Princeton, Ill./Princeton), Huffman, Carter and Jones.
The Generals return to action on Friday at the Colonial Relays hosted by William & Mary.
