Washington and Lee men’s track and field sophomore Ian McDonald (Richmond, Va./Douglas S. Freeman) broke the school record in the mile on day two of the Hilton Garden Invitational on Saturday.

Sophomore Jack Jones (Lookout Mountain, Ga./McCallie School) broke the Washington and Lee men’s track and field indoor 800m record on Friday on the first day of the Hilton Garden Invitational.

The Old Dominion Athletic Conference announced its Athletes of the Week for the week ending January 25, and Washington and Lee had three athletes honored.

McDonald Ties W&L Record in 800m at Denison Lid Lifter
Sophomore Ian McDonald (Richmond, Va./Douglas S. Freeman) tied the indoor school record in the 800m, and was the opening leg of the DMR, which placed second, to lead the Washington and Lee men’s track and field team at the Denison Lid Lifter on Saturday.

W&L Men's Track and Field in Action at Liberty Open
The Washington and Lee men’s track and field team participated in its first meet of 2015 at the Liberty Open on Friday and Saturday. Sophomore Ian McDonald’s (Richmond, Va./Douglas S. Freeman) first-place finish in the 3,000m highlighted the Generals’ performance at the competition, which featured Division I, II and III teams.

Numerous W&L Students Earn Fall Scholar-Athlete Awards
Washington and Lee Director of Athletics Jan Hathorn has announced that a record 224 students earned Scholar-Athlete awards during the recently completed fall term. The students are all members of W&L athletic teams and achieved a grade-point average (GPA) of at least 3.50. The total contains 34 more athletes than any previous fall term and is 14 more than in any previous winter term.

W&L Men's T&F Competes at CNU Holiday Open
The Washington and Lee men’s track and field team began the 2014-15 season at the CNU Holiday Open on Saturday. The Generals competed against Division I, II and III schools.

2014-15 W&L Men's Track and Field Season Preview
The Washington and Lee men’s track and field team recorded a third-place finish at both the indoor and outdoor ODAC Championships last season. While the team had some success at the conference level, Head Coach Brandon Uhl’s target for the 2014-15 team is to be competing for the top spot.

The Old Dominion Athletic Conference released its 2014-15 men’s indoor track and field preseason coaches’ poll on Friday, and Washington and Lee received 56 points and three first-place votes to take second out of nine schools.

Washington and Lee track and field sophomore Ian McDonald (Richmond, Va./Douglas S. Freeman) broke the W&L indoor 5,000m record on Wednesday at the Darius Dixon Memorial Invitational hosted by Liberty.

Three Generals Earn All-Academic Honors From USTFCCCA
The U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) announced the Division III Men’s Scholar Athletes of the Year and the All-Academic honorees recently, and Washington and Lee had three athletes garner All-Academic laurels. The Generals were also named a USTFCCCA 2014 All-Academic Team.
