BALTIMORE, Md. — At the Hopkins/Loyola Invitational on Saturday, senior Zander Tallman (Grand Blanc, Mich./Cranbrook-Kingswood) and the 4x100m relay set school and meet records to lead the Washington and Lee men's track and field team.
Competing in the 800m, Tallman took the top spot in 1:52.68 and broke the W&L record, which had stood for almost 30 years. Mark Pembroke set the previous mark of 1:53.34 in 1985.
The 4x100m relay, which consisted of Tallman, seniors Cole Glasgow (Dallas, Texas/Jesuit College Prep) and Agustin Kim (La Habra, Calif./Troy) and junior Aaron Jeong (Federal Way, Wash./Thomas Jefferson) crossed the finish line in 41.61 to take the top spot. It bested the previous record of 41.73 the foursome set at the W&L Carnival on March 22.
Tallman also finished second in the 100m with a time of 10.84. In the 400m, first-year Jack Jones (Lookout Mountain, Ga./McCallie School) recorded a collegiate best in 50.34.
First-year Patrick Robertson (Norfolk, Va./Norfolk Academy) placed sixth in the hammer throw with a personal best of 41.63m (136'07.25"). In the high jump, senior Dillon Myers (Foxborough, Mass./Foxborough) claimed seventh with a jump of 1.80m (5'10.75").
The 4x400m relay crossed the finish line second in 3:19.37. The quartet consisted of Dillon, Tallman, Jones and first-year Isidro Camacho (Brooklyn, N.Y./Xavier).
The Generals compete at the ODAC Championship hosted by Roanoke on Friday and Saturday.
