McDonald Leads W&L Men's T&F at CNU Invite

NEWPORT NEWS, Va. — First-year Ian McDonald (Richmond, Va./Douglas S. Freeman) led the Washington and Lee men's track and field team at the Vince Brown Invitational held by Christopher Newport on Saturday.

McDonald placed third overall and second in Division III in the 3,000m with a time of 8:56.56. It is the fastest time for a W&L athlete so far this season, and fifth-fastest mark in the ODAC this year.

In the 800m, first-year Jack Jones (Lookout Mountain, Ga./McCallie School) took 10th overall, but was the fourth-best D-III finisher with a time of 2:01.78.

First-year Patrick Robertson (Norfolk, Va./Norfolk Academy) set a new personal best in the weight throw by over three feet. He recorded a mark of 13.13m (43'01.00"). His previous best was 12.16m (39'10.75") at the Marietta Open on January 25.

The Generals next compete at the Kent State Tune Up on February 22.
