Jeong Breaks School Record in 60m at Liberty Kickoff

LYNCHBURG, Va. — Junior Aaron Jeong (Federal Way, Wash./Thomas Jefferson) broke his own school record in the 60m on Saturday at the Liberty Kickoff, as the Washington and Lee men's indoor track and field team competed in its first meet of the year.

Jeong crossed the finish line in 7.02 to take the top spot and eclipse his previous record of 7.03 he set in 2011. Senior Zander Tallman (Grand Blanc, Mich./Cranbrook-Kingswood) claimed second in the event in 7.23. Jeong also took third in the 200m with a time of 23.29.

Tallman crossed the finish line first in the 400m in 49.99. First-year Isidro Camacho (Brooklyn, N.Y./Xavier) placed third in the event (52.24), while first-year Jack Jones (Lookout Mountain, Ga./McCallie School) came in fourth (52.82).

In the mile, first-year Ian McDonald (Richmond, Va./Douglas S. Freeman) took fourth in 4:31.82 and senior Kane Thomas (Seattle, Wash./Shorewood) was right behind him in fifth with a time of 4:32.36.

Sophomore Levi Warring (Williamsburg, Va./Lafayette) claimed second in the 3,000m in 9:01.46, and the Blue and White finished second and fourth in the 5,000m. First-year Mac Strehler (Moseley, Va.) was the runner up in 15:43.29, while classmate Phillip Harmon (Roanoke, Va./Patrick Henry High School) placed fourth (16:46.78).

W&L ended the meet by taking the top spot in the 4x400m relay. The quartet of senior Mac Keers (Wilton, Conn./Wilton), Jones, McDonald and Tallman crossed the finish line in 3:29.86.

The Generals compete at the Marietta Open next Saturday.
