FOREST, Va. — The Old Dominion Athletic Conference released its 2013-14 men’s indoor track and field preseason coaches’ poll on Friday, and Washington and Lee received 47 points to take third out of nine schools.
Bridgewater collected five first-place votes and 61 total points to lead the poll. Defending indoor champion Lynchburg garnered the remaining four first-place votes and 59 points to come in second.
Following W&L, Eastern Mennonite (43 points) was fourth and Virginia Wesleyan (36) fifth. Roanoke (28), Guilford (26), Shenandoah (16) and Randolph (8) round out the poll.
W&L returns 22 athletes from last season, highlighted by senior Zander Tallman (Grand Blanc, Mich./Cranbrook-Kingswood). Tallman was injured when the Generals’ placed fifth at last year’s Indoor ODAC Championship, but at the 2012 championship, he was named the Athlete of the Meet.
The Generals bring in 11 newcomers to add to the depth for the Blue and White. The returners and the new faces begin their season on January 17 at the Liberty Open.
