Two Generals To Compete at NCAA T&F Championships

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – The National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) has announced the 2012 Division III Track and Field Championship accepted qualifiers and the Washington and Lee men's track and field team will be represented in three events.

Sophomore Zander Tallman (Grand Blanc, Mich./Cranbrook-Kingswood) will compete in both the 400m and the 200m. Tallman is seeded fourth in the 400m after clocking in at a school-record time of 47.66 seconds in the event at the VMI-W&L Track & Field Carnival on March 23. He is also ranked 17th in the 200m with a school-record time of 21.53 seconds, which he recorded at the Commonwealth Duals on March 31.

Sophomore Dillon Myers (Foxborough, Mass./Foxborough) qualified for the decathlon and is seeded 10th after notching a school-record 6,408 points in the event at the VMI-W&L Track & Field Carnival on March 23.

Myers will begin competition on Thursday, May 24 for day one of the two-day decathlon, with day two to be held on Friday, May 25. Tallman will run in the preliminary rounds of the 200m and the 400m on Thursday and Friday, respectively. The top-eight qualifiers in these two events will advance to the finals, held on Saturday, May 26.
