LYNCHBURG, Va. -- Washington and Lee's men's track & field team took part in the Lynchburg Open on Saturday afternoon, kicking off its 2012 outdoor campaign.
Sophomore Dillon Myers (Foxborough, Mass./Foxborough) led W&L, earning three Top 5 finishes among Div. III athletes. He won both the 400m hurdles and the 110m hurdles, finishing in 54.44 and 15.84, respectively. He also took fifth in the javelin with a mark of 49.25 meters.
Also in the javelin, junior Dylan Mills (Mobile, Ala./St. Paul's) took second and sophomore Kevin Sullivan (Sandwich, Mass./Tabor) came in third. Mills posted a mark of 57.63 meters, while Sullivan recorded a throw of 55.98 meters.
Senior Matt Gossett (Atlanta, Ga./Wesleyan) finished first in the 800m with a time of 1:57.07 and first-year Aaron Jeong (Federal Way, Wash./Thomas Jefferson) added a first-place finish in the 100m with a time of 11.16.
Rounding out the Generals' highlights on the day were sophomore Mac Keers (Wilton, Conn./Wilton) and senior Tyler Grant (Suwanee, Ga./South Forsyth). Keers took third in the 400m in 51.49 and Grant finished third in the 400m hurdles in 57.84.
W&L gets back to the track on Friday as it hosts day one of the W&L-VMI Carnival beginning at 9:00 am.
