W&L's Zander Tallman in Action at NCAA Indoor National Championships

GRINNELL, Iowa -- Washington and Lee sophomore Zander Tallman (Grand Blanc, Mich./Cranbrook Kingswood) took part in the NCAA Division III Indoor Track & Field Championships on Friday evening.

Tallman, W&L's first male competitor at the indoor championships in 22 years, took part in the 400 meters, recording a time of 49.82 seconds. His time was not among the top eight competitor and did not advance him to Saturday's final.

Senior Kevin Cunningham of McMurry recorded the top time in the prelims, crossing the finish line in 48.22.

With the competition at the National Championships now complete, the Generals will open the outdoor season on Saturday when they will take part in the Lynchburg Open beginning at 10:00 am.
