    Washington and Lee University held its annual Athletic Awards Ceremony on Tuesday, May 18 at Lee Chapel. Headlining the award winners were senior soccer/track & field athlete Maggie Sutherland (Pittsburgh, Pa./Sewickley Academy) and senior basketball/track & field athlete Ben Goetsch (Timonium, Md./Gilman), who were selected as the “Pres” Brown Outstanding Senior Female and Male Athletes of the Year as voted on by members of the department.

    Washington and Lee Director of Athletics Jan Hathorn has announced that 176 students earned Scholar-Athlete awards during the recently completed winter term. The students are all members of W&L athletic teams and achieved a grade-point average (GPA) of at least 3.500.

The Generals claimed 10 All-ODAC citations, five individual champions and three school records in addition to first-year Lauren Schultz (Hopkinton, Mass./Hopkinton) being named ODAC Rookie of the Year.
