NCAA Announces Men's and Women's Tennis Championship Fields
INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – The National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) announced the field for its 2013 Division III men's and women's tennis tournaments on Monday afternoon.
Both W&L teams will travel to Emory University for first, second and third round action this weekend.
The W&L men (18-5) will take on North Carolina Wesleyan (14-9), champions of the USA South Conference, in a first round match on Thursday in Atlanta, Ga. Should the Generals win, they would take on Emory (9-5) in the second round on Friday. The other second round match pits Whitman (18-6) and Texas-Tyler (19-6). The Friday winners will meet in the third round on Saturday.
The Washington and Lee women (18-7) will play Methodist (20-2), also winners of an automatic bid from the USA South, in the first round on Friday in Atlanta. Should W&L win, it would take on Sewanee (18-5) in the second round on Saturday. Emory (14-4), Trinity of Texas (10-14) and Agnes Scott (12-5) are all on the other half of the bracket and would be a potential third round opponent on Sunday.
The 2013 Division III men's and women's tennis nationals will take place at Stowe Stadium in Kalamazoo, Mich., on May 20-25.
