W&L's White Falls in the First Round of NCAA Singles

OBERLIN, Ohio -- Washington and Lee first-year Hayden White (Baltimore, Md./Towson) fell in the opening round of the NCAA Singles Championship held at Oberlin College on Friday morning.

White was defeated in the Round of 32 by junior Sam Sweeney of North Central College by a score of 6-3, 6-4.  Sweeney will go on to face fourth-seeded Andy Peters of Middlebury in the Round of 16 on Friday afternoon.

With the loss, White completes his rookie season with a 23-11 singles record.  The ODAC Rookie of the Year also finished his year with a 17-8 doubles mark.
