W&L Men's Swimming Claims Top Spot at W&L Invitational

LEXINGTON, Va. – The Washington and Lee men's swimming team totaled 1179.5 points and took first out of six teams at the W&L Invitational on Sunday evening at the W&L Natatorium.

Highlights From the Meet

  • W&L placed first in five of the 13 events on the final day of competition. The Generals also had seven second-place finishes and five third-place finishes.
  • Senior Tommy Thetford (Birmingham, Ala. / The Altamont) led the way for W&L after he claimed first in the 100-yard free with a time of 45.92. He was also part of the 400-yard free relay (3:08.49) and 200-yard medley relay (1:35.78) squads that both finished first.
  • First-year Jonathan Tucker (Katy, Texas / Katy) claimed the top spot in the 100-yard breast with a time of 1:00.65, while also taking second in the 200-yard breast in a time of 2:14.82. First-year Danny Lynch (Richmond, Va. / Trinity Episcopal School) took first in the 200-yard fly with a time of 1:54.10 and third in the 100-yard back in a time of 52.66.
