LANCASTER, Pa. – The Washington and Lee men's swimming team opened competition at the three-day Franklin & Marshall Invitational on Friday evening.
After two events, the Generals are second out of the four teams in the meet with 101 points.
W&L began the evening with a fourth-place finish in the 200 free relay with a time of 1:29.21. First-year Jake Burns (Greensboro, N.C. / Greensboro Day) led off the relay and was followed by first-year Andrew Botelho (Huntersville, N.C. / William Amos Hough) and sophomores Wesley Sigmon (Raleigh, N.C. / Cardinal Gibbons) and Matt Kiser (Dunwoody, Ga. / Dunwoody).
In the only other event of the evening, sophomore Alex Fox (Winston Salem, N.C. / RJ Reynolds) and first-year James Hayes (Chattanooga, Tenn. / McCallie School) finished fourth and fifth, respectively, in the 1650 free. Fox touched in 17:20.06 and Hayes finished in 17:21.63.
