BRIDGEWATER, Va. – The Virginia Sports Information Directors (VaSID) announced its 2017 College Division All-State Men's Soccer Teams on Thursday and Washington and Lee had two players recognized.
Sophomore defender Oliver Dolberg (Clovis, Calif. / Buchannan) earned first team honors, while junior midfielder Will Hamryka (Dawsonville, Ga. / Greater Atlanta Christian School) garnered second team accolades.
A two-time first team all-state honoree, Dolberg appeared in 17 contests as part of the Generals' defensive unit. He helped W&L post a 0.93 goals-against average and claim nine shutouts. He also tallied five goals, which tied for second on the team. Dolberg earned first team all-conference and second team all-region accolades earlier this season.
Hamryka saw action in 21 games for the Generals. A First Team All-ODAC honoree, Hamryka led W&L with six goals, while also dishing out two assists. His 14 points tied for first on the squad. Hamryka also earned the United Soccer Coaches Scholar All-America accolade earlier this season. This is Hamryka's first all-state honor in his career.
Washington and Lee completed the 2017 season with a 15-5-2 overall record and a 7-2 conference mark. The Generals made their third straight appearance in the NCAA tournament and advanced to the Sweet 16 for the first time since 2000, falling to eventual National Runner-Up, North Park, 3-0.
