WINCHESTER, Va. – The ninth-ranked Washington and Lee men's soccer team tallied three goals in the second half en route to a 5-0 victory over Shenandoah on Saturday afternoon at Sprint Field.
Sophomore midfielders Dylan Ritch (Mint Hill, N.C. / Independence) and Kevin Lencioni (Rochester Hills, Mich. / Rochester Adams) each tallied two goals for the Generals. First-year Oliver Dolberg (Clovis, Calif. / Buchanan) also found the back of the net for the Blue and White.
Ritch got the Generals (6-1, 1-0 ODAC) on the board at 1:35 in the first half, on an assist from sophomore midfielder Andy Dean (Columbia, Tenn. / Columbia Central). In the 26th minute mark, Lencioni found the back of the net, off of an assist from Ritch. W&L took the 2-0 lead into the half.
Ritch would score three minutes into the second half off of an assist from junior midfielder Andrew Kim (Blacksburg, Va. / Blacksburg). Dolberg tallied the fourth goal of the game at the 57th minute mark and Lencioni would score the final goal of the contest at 74:14.
For the game, W&L took 22 shots as opposed to the Hornets' (0-7, 0-1 ODAC) four, and held a 14-1 edge in corner kicks.
Sophomore goalkeeper Matt Sweeney played 65 minutes and made four saves for the Hornets, while junior Keegan Fairchild made three saves in 25 minutes.
The Generals return to action on Tuesday, when they host Eastern Mennonite at 4:30 pm.
