DELAWARE, Ohio – Sophomore midfielder Will Hamryka (Dawsonville, Ga. / Greater Atlanta Christian School) scored on a header just 39 seconds into the second half and the defense made it stand up for a 1-0 victory over Wooster on Sunday in the championship game of the Adidas Invitational at Ohio Wesleyan.
The Generals (4-1) out-shot the Fighting Scots (2-2-1) by a count of 7-1 in the first half, but could not find the goal in the opening 45 minutes. W&L finished the contest with a 15-5 advantage in shots and a 10-3 edge in corner kicks. Senior goalkeeper Connor Hayward (Dallas, Texas / Highland Park) played all 90 minutes in goal and earned the shutout by recording one save.
Sophomore midfielders Dylan Ritch (Mint Hill, N.C. / Independence) and James Brady (Glen Head, N.Y. / Chaminade), senior forward Geinda Smith (Blacksburg, Va. / Blacksburg), and first-year defender Oliver Dolberg (Clovis, Calif. / Buchanan) were all named to the all-tournament team.
Junior Scot Stacho spent the duration of the game in goal for Wooster, notching five saves.
