GLASSBORO, N.J. – Junior forward Travis Ward scored a goal and had one assist to help lead Rowan University past the Washington and Lee men's soccer team, 2-0 in the Generals' season-opener on Saturday afternoon at the Gilmore Alumni Classic held at Rowan.

The Profs got on the board at the 26:03 mark after sophomore forward Zack Sakena crossed the ball in front of the goal, finding Ward whose shot found the back of the net, giving Rowan a 1-0 lead that it took into the half.

The Generals came out strong early in the second half looking for an equalizing goal and had multiple shots on goal that just missed, including a shot that skimmed the top of the crossbar by sophomore midfielder Dylan Ritch (Mint Hill, N.C. / Independence) at 47:52.

Rowan added an insurance goal at the 68:13 mark when Ward assisted sophomore forward Shane Doherty, who shot the ball to the lower left corner of the net.
