ASHLAND, Va. – First-year midfielder Will Hamryka (Dawsonville, Ga. / Greater Atlanta Christian School) scored the game-winning goal in the 10th minute for the Washington and Lee men's soccer team in a 1-0 victory over Randolph-Macon on Saturday at R-MC Soccer Field.
Hamryka tallied the contest's lone goal just 9:18 into the match when he found the back of the net off of an assist from first-year midfielder Viktor Dolberg (Clovis, Calif. / Floyd B. Buchannan) to secure the win for the Generals (8-3-2, 6-0-1 ODAC).
For the game, W&L out-shot Randolph-Macon (8-6, 4-3 ODAC), 15-10, and held a 7-3 advantage in corner kicks.
Sophomore keeper Gillen Beck (Blacksburg, Va. / Blacksburg) saw all 90 minutes of action in goal for the Generals and collected six saves. First-year goalie Brian Breslin suffered the loss for the Yellow Jackets, also playing the entire match and posting five saves.
W&L returns to the field on Wednesday, when it hosts Shenandoah for a 3:00 pm contest.
