W&L Men's Soccer Earns 2-1 Victory Over Guilford

LEXINGTON, Va. – The Washington and Lee men's soccer team defeated the Guilford Quakers, 2-1, on Saturday afternoon at Watt Field. The Generals improve its record to 9-1-5 overall this season and 7-1-2 in the ODAC.

Junior forward Zach Colby (Prairie Village, Kan./Shawnee Mission East) scored the two goals for the Generals, both in the first half.

Colby's first goal was scored at the 3:38 mark off a sophomore Ben Bayles (Fleming Island, Fla./Fleming Island) assist. A little over a minute later, Guilford's Jonny Goffredi (Fayetteville, N.C./Jack Britt) tied the game by scoring the Quakers' first and only goal of the game.

Colby tied his season output from last year, scoring his thirteenth goal of the season at the 21:36 mark off an assist from first year Ted Hurst (Rochester Hills, Mich./Rochester Adams). 

Junior keeper Albert Civitarese (Bridgeville, Pa./Sewickley Academy) picked up the winning goal for the Generals playing all 90 minutes with two saves. Quakers keeper Michael MacVane (Hamppton Falls, N.H./Winnacunnet) ended the game with four saves. 

For the game, the Generals held a 22-6 shots lead and held a 17-4 edge in corner kicks.
 
The Generals return to action on Tuesday for their last regular season game, traveling to No. 15 Randolph for a 7:00 pm contest.
