LEXINGTON, Va. -- The Washington and Lee Men's soccer team picked up its fifth tie of the season with a 0-0 draw with conference leading Roanoke on Saturday afternoon at Watt Field.
With the tie, the Generals moved to 5-0-5 (3-0-2), while the Maroons were handed their first tie of the season and move to 8-1-1 (4-0-1) on the season.
The Generals outshot the Maroons 18-10, including 9-5 in shots on goal, but could not capitalize in the end. The Generals best scoring opportunities came in the seventh minute when senior Parker Wolfinger (Greer, S.C./Riverside) and junior Al Organ (St. Paul, Minn./DeLaSalle) took two shots within 10 seconds of each other, but the RC goalie made the key saves.
Sophomore keeper Kieran McQuilkin (New Canaan, Conn./King & Low) held Roanoke at bay, stopping foud shots. Meanwhile, RC keepers Will Dooley (Roanoke, Va./Cave Spring) and Cole Sinclair (Blackburg, Va./Blacksburg) combined for nine saves. W&L also held a 6-3 edge in corner kicks over Roanoke.
The Generals return to the field Wednesday, hosting Shenandoah at 4:30 pm.
