HARRISONBURG, Va. - The Washington and Lee men's soccer team used a pair of first half goals to post a 2-0 victory over Eastern Mennonite on Tuesday evening at the EMU Turf Field.
The Generals (10-4-2, 7-2-2 ODAC) took an early 1-0 lead when sophomore forward Zach Colby (Prairie Village, Kan./Shawnee Mission East) tallied his team-leading 13th goal of the season in the 20th minute after striking a loose ball in front of the net.
W&L's lead grew to 2-0 at the 28:49 mark when senior forward Dylan Norvell (Richmond, Va./Henrico) notched his first goal of the year unassisted.
Eastern Mennonite (8-10-1, 5-6 ODAC) managed seven of its nine shots in the second half, but sophomore goalkeeper Albert Civitarese (Bridgeville, Pa./Sewickley Academy) recorded a pair of second-half saves (three total) to preserve the Generals' ninth shutout of the season.
Sophomore Andrew Yoder spent all 90 minutes in goal for the Royals, collecting three saves while facing 16 shots.
Washington and Lee has locked up the No. 2 seed for the ODAC Tournament, which begins on Saturday. The Generals will host a yet to be determined opponent at a time that is to be announced.
