ROANOKE, Va. – Chris Conover notched three goals for Roanoke to lead the Maroons past the Washington and Lee men's soccer team, 3-0, on Saturday afternoon at Kerr Stadium.
Conover used a cross from Garrett Eldridge to head in the contest's first goal in the 26th minute. Just 3:50 later, Conover netted an unassisted goal at the 29:16 mark to push the Maroons' lead to 2-0 entering halftime.
RC was awarded a penalty kick after W&L was called for a foul in the box in the 69th minute, resulting in Conover's third goal of the game.
With the loss, the Generals fell to 9-4-2 overall and 6-2-2 in the ODAC, while Roanoke improved to 9-4-1 on the season and 7-2-1 in conference action.
In net for the Blue and White was sophomore Albert Civitarese (Bridgewater, Pa./Sewickley Academy), who recorded two saves and three goals-against in 90:00. Cole Sinclair spent the entire game in goal for the Maroons, stopping one shot and claiming the shutout.
The Generals return to action on Wednesday, when they travel to Eastern Mennonite for a 7:00 pm contest.
