W&L Men's Lacrosse Receives an At-Large Bid to the NCAA Tournament

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – The National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) announced its 2018 Division III Men's Lacrosse Tournament field on Sunday evening and Washington and Lee received an at-large bid.

The Generals (14-4) will host a first round game on Wednesday, May 9 against Transylvania (12-6), winners of the Ohio River Lacrosse Conference.  The Pioneers enter Wednesday's contest on a seven-game winning streak, having defeated St. Vincent in the ORLC Championship game by a score of 12-2.

Transylvania is in just its sixth season of existence and is making its second all-time NCAA Championship appearance.  The Pioneers fell to Hampden-Sydney in the second round of the 2017 tournament by a score of 23-8. The Generals and Pioneers will be meeting for the first time-ever.

W&L is making its 20th all-time appearance in the NCAA Tournament and its 12th appearance in the Division III Tournament.  The Generals last played in the 2016 NCAA Tournament, advancing to the third round before falling to York, 12-5.

The game time for Wednesday's contest is to be determined.  The winner of the game will take on the winner of a first round contest between Dickinson and Lynchburg.  That game will be on Saturday, May 12 at a location and time to be determined.
