BALTIMORE, Md. -- Washington and Lee senior men's lacrosse player Joe LaSala (Wilton, Conn./Wilton) has been named a Preseason Third Team All-American by Inside Lacrosse magazine for the publication's annual Face-Off Yearbook.
A two-time USILA Honorable Mention All-America selection as a defenseman, LaSala has seen each of his last two seasons cut short due to injury. He played in 13 games last season, causing 31 turnovers and picking up 22 ground balls en route to earning First Team All-ODAC honors and being named the ODAC Scholar-Athlete of the Year.
LaSala played in 11 games during the 2011 campaign and finished with 37 caused turnovers and 22 ground balls. A two-time team captain, he has served as a lynchpin for the Generals' defense all three seasons.
Washington and Lee completed the 2012 season with a 10-9 overall record and a 3-4 mark in conference play. W&L won its final two regular season contests and then knocked off the No. 3 and No. 2 seeds to advance to the ODAC Tournament final where it fell to top-seeded Lynchburg, 10-4.
The Generals will open the 2013 season on February 12, when they host Ferrum for a 5:00 pm contest.
