W&L Men's Lacrosse Breezes to a 27-6 Win Over Randolph

LEXINGTON, Va. – Eighth-ranked Washington and Lee scored 14 unanswered goals en route to posting a 27-6 victory over Randolph in ODAC lacrosse action on Saturday afternoon at Wilson Field.

The Generals (11-2, 5-1) led just 6-5 with 5:19 left in the second quarter following a 3-goal run by the WildCats (5-9, 2-5) that included a pair of man-up tallies.  W&L began its run with three goals in the final 4:00 of the second quarter to assume a 9-5 lead at the break.

The Blue & White then notched nine goals during the third quarter to extend to an 18-5 advantage entering the final period.  Junior midfielder Joe Wood (Bronxville, N.Y./Bronxville) tallied three scores in the quarter, including two extra-man goals, while sophomore midfielder Garrett Paglia (Forest Hill, Md./Gilman) totaled one goal and one assist. 

Sophomore attackman Cameron Dabir (Grosse Pointe Farms, Mich./Culver Academy) scored his third goal of the contest to begin the final period as the Generals cruised to their third straight victory and their second consecutive game with 27 goals scored.

W&L out-shot the WildCats by a count of 69-16 and the Generals held a 62-32 advantage in ground balls.  W&L also won 25-of-36 faceoffs and forced 34 Randolph turnovers.

Wood led the way for W&L, scoring a career-best five goals.  Senior attackman Mac Means (Sewickley, Pa./Sewickley Academy) totaled five points on three goals and two assists, jumping into a tie for 18th on the Generals' all-time scoring list with 146 points.  Dabir finished with three goals, while senior midfielder Cooper Brown (Baltimore, Md./Gilman) and junior midfielder Jack Reuter (Rockville Center, N.Y./Chaminade) both tallied two goals.  Senior midfielder Luke Heinsohn (Charlottesville, Va./Covenant), first-year midfielder Jack Clarke (Basking Ridge, N.J./Delbarton) and first-year attackman Austin Tamayo (Oviedo, Fla./Lake Highland Prep) each totaled one goal and one assist.  Sophomore attackman Tyler Goldman (New York, N.Y./Loomis Chaffee) added a pair of assists. 

In goal, sophomore Warren Berenis (Ocoee, Fla./Lake Highland Prep) started and played the first 22:59, making two saves with four goals allowed.  Junior Dylan Florig (Voorhees, N.J./Eastern Regional) played 22:01 and allowed one goal, while first-year Wyatt Devine (Norfolk, Va./Norfolk Academy) played the final 15:00 and notched two saves with one goal allowed.

Junior midfielder Colton Wood (Chula Vista, Va./Otay Ranch) paced the WildCats with two goals, while first-year attackman Andrew Risse (Annandale, Va./Blue Ridge Prep) notched one goal and two assists.  First-year Cam Davis (Gibsonville, N.C./Western Alamance) played the duration in goal and posted 18 saves.

Washington and Lee returns to action next Saturday when it travels to 16th-ranked Roanoke for a 2:00 pm contest.
