HERSHEY, Pa. – The 12th-ranked Washington and Lee men's golf team is tied for second out of 15 teams after day one of the Hershey Cup held at the Hershey Country Club on Sunday.
The Generals' score of 306 (+22) is tied with RPI and trails only 21st-ranked Kenyon, which posted a 299 (+15) to lead by seven strokes. NYU is in fourth-place with a 310 (+26).
Kenyon's Ryan Muthiora is the individual leader following the first round after firing an even-par round of 71. W&L sophomore Brian Peccie (Norfolk, Va. / Norfolk Academy) is all alone in second-place, two strokes back with a 73 (+2).
Senior Luke Farley (Durham, N.C. / Trinity School) sits in a tie for ninth-place out of 84 golfers after shooting a +5 score of 76 on Sunday. Sophomore Sean Puleo (Albany, N.Y. / Albany Academy) is tied for 17th with a 77 (+6) and classmate Boyd Peete (Henrico, Va. / St. Christopher's) is tied for 40th after shooting an 80 (+9).
Sophomore Robert Quinilty (Cypress, Texas / Houston Christian) rounds out the Generals in the field with an 81 (+10) that is tied for 56th.
Washington and Lee returns to action tomorrow with the final round from the Hershey Country Club.
