HOWEY-IN-THE-HILLS, Fla. – The Washington and Lee men's golf team resides in 11th-place out of 42 teams following the second day of competition at the NCAA Division III Championship held at the Mission Inn Resort on Wednesday.
The Generals are among the Top 18 teams that will make the cut and will compete across the final two rounds for the championship. Top-ranked Huntingdon leads the way with a two-day score of 293-291—584 (+8). Wittenberg is second with a +12 score of 298-290—588 and Guilford is third at +17 (300-293—593).
W&L shot a +18 score of 306 on the El Campeon Course on Wednesday and claims a two-day total of 300-306—606 (+30). The Blue & White once again got off to a good start, recording seven birdies combined across the first nine holes, but the Generals couldn't sink puts through the second nine in producing the 306 score.
Huntingdon's Addison Lambeth continues to lead the individual portion of the event, shooting even par on Wednesday for a two-day score of 69-72—141 (-3).
First-year Brian Peccie (Norfolk, Va. / Norfolk Academy) is the top General thus far, carding a 75-74—149 (+5) that is tied for 19th out of the 215 golfers in the field. Seniors Conley Hurst (Little Rock, Ark. / Episcopal) and Todd Alan McDonald (Little Rock, Ark. / Little Rock Christian) are both tied for 49th overall. Hurst claims a 76-77—153 (+9) and McDonald has shot 73-80—153 (+9).
Third round action continues on Thursday from the Mission Inn Resort.
