DATAW ISLAND, S.C. – The Washington and Lee men's golf team shot a final round score of 302 on Tuesday to finish seventh out of 14 teams at the Taylor Made/Adidas Intercollegiate hosted by Ohio Wesleyan at the Cotton Dike Course.
Guilford won the three-round, two-day event with a score of 294-301-314—909. Concordia (Texas) was second with a 300-315-302—917, while Hampden-Sydney finished third (307-301-313—921). W&L notched a 929 after shooting rounds of 316 and 311 on Monday.
Hampden-Sydney's Brian Burt claimed individual medalist honors after notching a +1 score of 74-69-74—217. First-year Cody Solomon (Peachtree Corners, Ga. / Wesleyan School) was the top General in the event, placing in a tie for seventh-place with a 76-77-74—227 (+11).
First-year Todd Alan McDonald (Little Rock, Ark. / Little Rock Christian) tied for 12th with a 78-77-74—229, while while junior Patrick Clossin (Ooltewah, Tenn. / McCallie School) tied for 30th with an 84-75-77—236.
First-year Conley Hurst (Little Rock, Ark. / Episcopal) tied for 32nd and senior Mark Sowinski (Greensboro, N.C. / Bishop McGuinness) tied for 77th overall. Hurst shot 78-82-77—237 and Sowinski carded an 88-86-86—260. Junior Joey Manzinger (Baden, Pa. / Sewickley Academy) added a 90th-place finish with a 95-95-90—280.
Washington and Lee returns to action on March 28-30 as it competes in the Marine Corps Intercollegiate held at the Paradise Point Golf Club.
