W&L Men's Golf Opens Play at the O'Briant-Jensen Memorial
GREENSBORO, N.C. – The Washington and Lee men's golf team posted a score of 308 on Monday and is tied for ninth out of 17 teams following the first day of competition at the O'Briant-Jensen Memorial held at the Sedgefield Dye Course.
Greensboro is the opening day leader with a score of 293 (+13). Hampden-Sydney is in second-place with a 295 (+15), while Methodist is in third-place with a 297 (+17).
Averett's Brandon Grogan is the individual leader after the first round, carding a -3 score of 67.
Washington and Lee's top individual on Monday was first-year Conley Hurst (Little Rock, Ark. / Episcopal), who is tied for 20th out of 96 competitors with a 75 (+5). Sophomore Teddy Corcoran (Rochester, N.Y. / Brighton) and first-year Cody Solomon (Peachtree Corners, Ga. / Wesleyan School) are both tied for 31st after shooting 77, while sophomore Todd Alan McDonald (Little Rock, Ark. / Little Rock Christian) is tied for 48th with a 79. Junior Joey Manzinger (Baden, Pa. / Sewickley Academy) rounded out the Generals in the field with an 83 that is tied for 75th overall.
Action continues on Tuesday morning with the final round from Greensboro.
